Banana Peanut Butter Ice Cream Recipe For You AND Fido!
So, I always love making food for my pups. And I always love making sweet treats for myself that are a bit more healthy than the typical sweet treat. This is a recipe I used to make for myself all the time. Then it dawned on me…. I can make it for my pups! It’s a win-win all around! I can enjoy some guilt-free ice cream AND safely share it with my dogs. It really doesn’t get much better than that. So, without further ado… here is the recipe.
INGREDIENTS
4 large ripe bananas
2 TBS peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t have xylitol or birch sugar in it. That is highly toxic to dogs. I use just plain peanuts)
(optional - plain greek yogurt - make sure there is no flavoring)
INSTRUCTIONS
Peel and slice bananas 1/2” thick. Put them single layer onto a tray and put them in the freezer for a few hours until frozen.
Place bananas and peanut butter in a food processor or blender.
Blend until creamy and smooth.
You may need to add a little but of plain greek yogurt or un-frozen bananas if you are having a hard time getting the creamy consistency. Just add a little at a time until it starts getting smooth.
Scoop it into a bowl for you and one for fido and enjoy!
Right away it might have a more soft-serve consistency. If you’d prefer it to be more like hard ice cream, put it in the freezer for a little while.
